Greater Joy

Given much

Given little

You have given me the greater joy

Though I feel despair in my current circumstances

And my heart is aching

Though I walk through the blazing fire for miles and miles

With burning coals beneath my feet

You have given me the greater joy

Let this world strip away every pillar I have placed my identity on

Let it all fall and crumble

You have given me the greater joy

Though it feels like the sorrow will never end

And tears continue to flow

You have given me the greater joy

So, I will lift up my hands and praise You

I will shout, “Hallelujah!” from the top of my lungs

“This God I serve, the Lord Jesus Christ, He has given me the greater joy!”

“I will praise You forevermore!”

Can anything or anyone extinguish my praise?

Like water to a blazing fire?

Surely not! For the Lord will preserve me through it all.

Though the darkness may plunge me deep beneath the waters

My God will remain. He will give me oxygen to breathe

I am forever connected to the source of life

Life is with me. Light is in me

Jesus is present now and always

His spirit dwells within me!

The Lord is my light and my salvation— Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— Of whom shall I be afraid?

If God has given me the greater joy

To who or what can I compare Him?

If my joy is not connected to anything of this world

What am I in need of but Christ?

Only one true desire of my heart remains, and that is

To praise You forevermore
