Trust in the Lord

Have you ever found it hard to trust in the Lord? Sure, the book of Proverbs tells us to "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding," but sometimes that can be really hard to do; especially when Christ wants us to trust Him with everything, including our entire life! But trusting in Christ actually makes sense. Here's why: Christ knows us better than we know ourselves, He knows the future, He has a plan for our lives, and His character is trustworthy. Let's look at each of these a little more closely.

He knows us better than we know ourselves

Sometimes, we don't know what we really want in life and we think we know ourselves really well, but we don't. Thankfully, God knows us best. Romans 8:27 (MSG), "He knows us far better than we know ourselves..;" Psalm 139: 13 (NLT),"O LORD, You have examined my heart and know everything about me;" Luke 12:7 (ESV), "Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered." God not only knows you, He knows you BETTER than you know yourself! He has wonderful plans for your life that you don't even know of and have not seen! God created you (Ps 139:13), so don't you think He knows what you like and don't like? You can rest in knowing a God who knows you best is leading you. He knows the future

Ps 139:16 (NLT) states, " You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in Your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed." 1 John 3:20 (NLT), "Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and He knows everything." Ephesians 2:10 (NLT), "For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago." Nothing catches God off guard because He has already seen our future; knowing this gives me great comfort.

He has plans for our lives

God states in the book of Jeremiah that He has good plans for our lives (Jer 29:11). In other words, God is not making things up as He goes along. No. God is a god of order. He is operating in our lives according to a plan He has already created. Not only does God have a plan for our lives, but He will guide you and I along the BEST plan for our lives! Ps 32:8, "The LORD says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you." This plan will not disappoint you (Is 49:23), rather it will satisfy you (Ps 103:5; Ps 104:27-28)

His character is trustworthy

God is not a liar (Num 23:19), He is good (Ps 107:1), there is no darkness in Him at all (1 John 1:5) and God is faithful (2 Tim 2:13). Take a look at the lives of people in scripture. God protected David and was faithful in making him king over Israel. Even though Jesus died and was crucified on the cross, God had a plan and the Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead. Though Joseph endured many trials, God strengthened him through the process; ultimately, Joseph became second in command of Egypt. When you look at each of their lives (and so many others in scripture), you see that God remained faithful and His plan was good. God is the same yesterday, today and forevermore (Heb 13:8.). Just like God was faithful and trustworthy then, He is faithful and trustworthy now.

So, after seeing through scripture that God knows you better than you know yourself, He knows the future, He has plans for your life, and His character is trustworthy, do you believe you can trust God? I want to encourage you to allow God to show you how good and perfect His plan is for your life. Ps 34:8, "Taste and see that the Lord is good." God desires to expose you and I to a wonderful and beautiful life. But! We will only get there, if we trust Him.

God bless!
